A Christmas Story Vintage-inspired Green Bean Casserole, a nostalgic classic perfect for holiday gatherings


  • ​2 cans (10.5 oz each) of cream of mushroom soup
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 2 teaspoons soy sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 8 cups cooked green beans
  • 2 2/3 cups crispy fried onions


  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, whisk together soup, milk, soy sauce, and black pepper. Stir in green beans and 1 1/3 cups of crispy fried onions.
  • Transfer the mixture to a 3-quart baking dish. Bake for 25 minutes or until the bean mixture is hot and bubbling.
  • Stir the bean mixture, then sprinkle with the remaining 1 1/3 cups onions. Bake for another 5 minutes or until the onions are golden brown.
  • Serve warm and watch it disappear faster than Higbee’s holiday crowd!
